There are many venues taking part in the Dronfield Arts Festival for 2018. The main focus of activity is taking part in and around Dronfield Barn on High Street. Other venues in Dronfield and the surrounding area have many exciting and vibrant planned activities and pieces of entertainment throughout the weekend also.

Keep an eye out for our very own Town Crier who will keep you entertained throughout the day, along with his medieval helpers.

10:00am – 4:00pm at the Coal Aston Village Hall

Cross Stitch

  • Making an early start to this year’s big Spring celebration of the arts in Dronfield is Margaret Firth who is planning a diamond wedding celebration with a difference. Married to Arthur for 60 years in April, Margaret, who lives in Coal Aston, has decided to mark the special occasion by presenting an exhibition of some of her remarkable handywork. She has hired Coal Aston Village Hall to display dozens of colourful, highly-detailed cross-stitch images which she has painstakingly created over many years. Margaret will also have collectable artefacts and other interesting items on show. Refreshments will be served. When she staged a similar event to mark her 80th birthday in 2014, almost 200 people attended and £365 was raised to help the work of Edale Mountain Rescue.  This year, proceeds are to go to the Sight Support charity.

Margaret said : “I’m looking forward to welcoming lots of friends and also anyone who might be interested in finding out more about the art of cross-stitch.

  • Local Performance Dronfield Singers at 3:00pm – 4:00pm
    • Dronfield Singers was formed in March 2012. At our first meeting we had about 40 people, we now have about 80 people on the mailing list! Although not everyone can make it every week we regularly have about 60 people at rehearsals. We meet on Monday afternoons for a good sing and to have lots of fun. Everyone says they feel uplifted after singing, (myself included!) and we have become a bit like a large, friendly club. We have sung for various local groups such as the Cardio club, the Welcome club, the Towns Women’s Guild and the WI. For the past two years we have done a concerts, raising money for the charity CRY. This year we are splitting the proceeds from our charity concert between CRY and the Mayor’s charity. We have sung at various local venues: The Civic Hall, the Peel Centre, Holmesfield church, Gosforth Lodge, Coal Aston Village Hall, The Barn at Christmas for the Christmas lights being switched on and outside Sainsburys! We have even been to Sindelfingen twice, once to sing at the Citizens’ visit and last year to sing as part of the street festival. (Dronfield is twinned with Sindelfingen)) I am very proud of the Singers and all that they have achieved over the last six years. We are very pleased to be taking part in the first Dronfield Arts Festival – I know we are all going to enjoy ourselves!
